What are the symptoms of psoriasis?

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease and psoriasis symptoms are characterized by thickened patches of inflamed, red skin covered with thick, silvery scales. There are several types of psoriasis that may affect different areas of the body as well as produce varying symptoms among individuals. It is a non-contagious disease and affects both the skin and joints. According to the National Institute of health, approximately 7.5 million Americans have psoriasis symptoms.

Although psoriasis may be almost unnoticeable in its early stages, patients often report an itching skin and/or burning skin sensations as the disease progresses. Someone suffering from this disease will have many different psoriasis symptoms. The symptoms may be small flattened bumps, large thick plaques of raised skin, red patches, and pink mildly dry skin to big flakes of dry skin that flake off.

There are various forms of psoriasis and each of it has different symptoms associated with them. Below are some of them:

Inverse Psoriasis

Inverse psoriasis occurs in the armpits, under the breasts, skin folds, around the groin, in the cleft between the buttocks and around the genitals. Essentially, the psoriasis symptoms of this type of skin rash thrive in moist, skin-to-skin areas around your body. It is usually pink in color and doesn’t have the thick scale seen in other forms of psoriasis.

Plaque Psoriasis

The most common form of psoriasis is known as Plaque Psoriasis and it causes dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales. The plaques have a tendency to itch and can be very painful. This type of psoriaisis can occur anywhere on your body, including your making your genitals itch, giving you underarm itch, and can even effect the soft tissues on the inside of your mouth. Plaque psoriasis is very unpleasant and can be difficult to get rid of.

Scalp Psoriasis

Scalp psoriasis will affect the scalp manifesting as red, maddeningly itchy areas with silvery-white scales. If you suffer from scalp psoriasis, you might see flakes of dead skin in your hair or on your clothing, especially after scratching your scalp. The typical psoriasis symptoms on your scalp are often called dandruff, however, scalp psoriasis can get very irritated and is much harder to cure than with a simple dandruff shampoo.

Guttate Psoriasis

Guttate psoriasis is another form of psoriasis that usually only affects young people below 30 years of age. Typically, the psoriasis symptoms appear as hundreds of spots covering large areas of the body, such as the trunk, limbs, and scalp. Generally, guttate psoriasis occurs after a streptococcal or viral infection. This can be a very embarrassing form of skin problem as it is the most visible and has been know to spread to the face on occasion.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis causes pitted, discolored nails and swollen or stiff joints which symptoms of arthritis. Hands and joints may become painful and difficult to move. It can also lead to inflammatory eye conditions such as conjunctivitis. Symptoms are usually mild but have been known to get extremely severe. It can be very difficult for sufferers with these psoriasis symptoms to feel like they can lead normal lives.

Pustular Psoriasis

Pustular psoriasis is a rare form of psoriasis in which widespread patches develop on the hands and feet. Pustular psoriasis can occur in smaller areas or involve most of the body with innumerable tiny white pustules.

Eythrodermic Psoriasis

The psoriasis symptoms of Eythrodermic Psoriasis are characterized by making the entire body bright red and scaly. It can cover just about any skin with an inflamed red peeling rash. This form of psoriasis is the least common and very difficult to get rid of.

Do you have psoriasis symptoms?

Doctors will try everything from allergy medications to skin creams, but to be honest, doctors really have no clue as to what causes psoriasis. No medical treatments are guaranteed to work either. They might clear up some of your psoriasis symptoms, but you will still have small patches of itchy irritated skin.

There is hope! It is possible to create a way of living that makes you Psoriasis proof for life, and it’s easier and completely natural. Don’t waste another day hating your skin and fearing people might see it. Get on the path to health and get educated!
